Google has made its intentions very clear with Chrome OS project, that they are ready to lock horns with Microsoft on its core business area, Operating System market. Microsoft was continuing its monopolistic lead in this business area as the 90% of the computers running in the world are working in Microsoft OS platform.
There were several spats occurred between Microsoft and Google on numerous issues and Google tried to compete with Microsoft on several products though they never looked to enter Microsoft’s bread and butter. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft respond to this and counter it.
Google is aiming to launch Chrome OS by the second half of 2010 and it will be available for Netbooks initially. Competition is always good for the customer as lot of people already welcomed Google’s foray and expects Microsoft would also raise the bar to stay afloat.
