Cancer Treatment looks Promising

Cancer is ongoing battle for many people all over the world. Those who are fortunate to overcome cancer are very fortunate  because cancer is a very tough battle. Cancer produces a protein called CD47 and it could be the link to curing or shrinking cancers.

There many different types from cancers. CD47 is the main protein in many cancers that is produced. This protein blocks the immune system from fighting the cancer cells allowing the cancer to spread. Stanford University School of Medicine tested the CD47 in petri dishes with an anti-CD47 protein which reduced and blocked the cancers. There were many cancers they tested and it worked well for each type they tested. Irving Weissman , a biologist says that it is important to every tumor they tested it on.

Human Tumors of various types were injected into the feet of mice where they could be easily monitored. They then introduced the Anti-CD47 and when introduced, the tumors shrank and disappeared.  There is some concern for multi treatment and how they would cooperate with each other. There is still a lot of testing to be done and with 20 million dollar grant to Stanford school of medicine. They are hoping to get it done.

Since the mice trials were so successful they are looking to start human trials.  Human safety test look very promising for this new treatment. Weissman says they have more than enough data to move further in the next steps. He is confident that human trials will happen. • This design is wicked! You certainly know how to keep a reader
entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my
own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and
more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
